Module 6: Modeling Network Evolution in Metric Spaces

Abstract: A number of recent papers have modeled the evolution of network structure (emergence of a giant component, etc.). This module explores how network structures evolve when users are embedded in metric spaces. Every user is a node embedded in a metric (or a vector) space, there is an arrival process of such nodes, and every arriving node is connected by other nodes by an edge formation process (that is sensitive to edge homophily). Datasets of interest include brain networks, social networks, and human migration patterns.
