The Cassels Health Geography research group at University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to work in the area of network modeling for HIV transmission dynamics. The successful candidate will work with agent-based network models on questions related to innovative HIV testing strategies, incorporating geo-statistics into HIV modeling, and exploring innovative ways to represent spatially-explicit sexual networks. The candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate on empirical projects related to migration and HIV risk as well. Candidates with diverse research interests are encouraged to apply.
The candidate must have a PhD in Epidemiology, Geography, or a related discipline, excellent quantitative and communication skills, and a strong record of productivity. Familiarity with HIV transmission modeling is highly desirable. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and will be responsible for carrying out his/her own research and for communicating the results to others.
The position is full time and offers an annual salary based on years of postdoctoral experience and comprehensive benefits. Proposed start date is 10/01/2015 – 09/30/2016; continuation beyond one year will be based on performance and availability of funds.
