I am advised by Dr. John Gilbert of the Combinatorial Scientific Computing Lab. My research falls under the general areas of graph algorithms, sparse linear algebra, and parallel computing. I am particularly interested in large-scale graph clustering algorithms. My latest project is a collaboration with researchers at Lawrence Berkeley Labs, UC Berkeley, and the Joint Genome Institute on the topic of graph algorithms for large-scale genetic mapping. We recently designed an efficient and accurate clustering algorithm which significantly improves the linkage group-finding stage of popular genetic mapping tools. I am excited to continue to develop graph algorithms that can be used for scientific discovery in the genomics application domain.
